‘Avengers’ Star Dave Bautista Puts On The Mask As Bane For Cool Fan Art

A new concept design gives Avengers star Dave Bautista a comic book-accurate Bane look for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Dave Bautista is no stranger to the world of comic book movies. The wrestler-turned-actor made his debut as the Marvel character Drax in the 2014 James Gunn movie Guardians of the Galaxy. He then reprised the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War and last year’s Avengers: Endgame. When Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 over controversial old tweets, Dave Bautista was the most outspoken critic of the decision and openly questioned his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

James Gunn later returned to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but not before he took a new job at Warner Bros. as he signed on to write and direct The Suicide Squad for DC Films. Dave Bautista met with James Gunn over a possible role in the supervillain villain team-up movie but that apparently didn’t pan out due to scheduling conflicts. Fans were quick to assume that the Avengers star would be taking on the role of Bane and many took to the internet to imagine what he could look like as the iconic Batman villain.

Digital artist Mizuri recently shared this awesome artwork that pictures Avengers star Dave Bautista as Bane, giving the actor the black and white mask that the villain is known for wearing in the comics. You can see the concept design featuring Dave Bautista below.

Dave Bautista’s latest comic book movie appearance was as Drax in Avengers: Endgame. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Josh Brolin. The film is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
