Could Dave Filoni be teasing that another major Clone Wars character could be joining Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season two?
It was recently revealed that The Mandalorian season two will see the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano, who will be played by The Defenders star Rosario Dawson. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm, it does seem likely that this will be the case based on various Hollywood trades confirming the news. As the final season continues on Disney Plus, it sounds like another major Star Wars: The Clone Wars could also appear in The Mandalorian season two.
Dave Filoni recently changed his Twitter header to concept art of Ahsoka and Captain Rex. The concept art is from Star Wars Rebels and was handed out at Star Wars Celebration in 2015, but it could be a hint at what’s to come. Captain Rex was last seen in Star Wars Rebels as an aged clone, but the character has since been retconned into Return of the Jedi as a Rebel Soldier. Like Ahsoka, Rex could still be active as a remnant of the Clone Wars during the time when The Mandalorian takes place. You can see the Star Wars Rebels concept art below.
For anyone wondering, Dave made this for VIP holders at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015. This is Filoni’s current Twitter header. But it definitely could be teasing something! pic.twitter.com/TAdESbN3lZ

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
The Mandalorian season two is set to premiere in October on Disney Plus.
