DC Comics’ Geoff Johns Is In Toronto For ‘Shazam!’

Shazam DC Geoff Johns TorontoDC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns has revealed via social media that he is currently in Toronto, Canada, where production is underway on the Shazam! film from director David F. Sandberg.

Johns dropped this bit of information in a tweet where he poked fun at Toronto’s extremely low weather, while also lamenting over his cell phone’s low battery life.

You can check out Geoff Johns’ original post below.

Johns has been a producer at DC Films ever since 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. After the recent shakeup at Warner Bros. that left producer Walter Hamada in charge to oversee the DC Films division, Johns still remains an integral part of the production team that looks to continue bringing these comic book properties to the big screen.

Here is the film’s official synopsis:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out.  In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard.  Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!  Can he fly?  Does he have X-ray vision?  Can he shoot lightning out of his hands?  Can he skip his social studies test?  Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child.  But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”

Shazam is directed by David F. Sandberg and stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freedman, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans as Victor and Rosa Vasquez, Faithe Herman as Darla, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana.

Shazam! is set to hit theaters on April 5, 2019.

5 DC Films Warner Bros. Needs To Focus On After ‘Justice League’

Previous1 of 6

Justice League DC FilmsNow that Justice League is past us, Warner Bros. is shaking things up. There is now a new head at the studio and with that comes changes. It seems that the studio is easing off the gas when it comes to announcing movies. As of right now there is only Aquaman, Shazam, Wonder Woman 2 and Flashpoint with any sort of true momentum behind them. The Batman, which has a director attached, and a sequel to Man of Steel are also expected, but there’s nothing concrete like release dates for those yet.

The hard part now is figuring out what films Warner Bros. should focus on. There have been numerous films unofficially announced by the studio, with three of them featuring Harley Quinn as a main character. This shows a lack of focus. Now going forward, there needs to be a clear focus as to what movies are coming out.

Here are some suggestions as to what DC films Warner Bros. needs to focus on after Justice League. Click Next to get started!

Hopefully he can work the same magic as he did on the “Green Lantern” and “Justice League” films and make this one just as sh*tty!

@HG2012:disqus A lot of these colostomy bags just press on their keys in hopes to get a reaction from someone. The typical troll that does nothing to add to any discussion. It’s great calling them out, however.

GJ wrote a great series in The New 52. One wonders how difficult must it really be to adapt comic book panels onto the silver screen. The storyboard is essentially completed. All you need is fill in the scenes between panels. No one seems to want to follow a comic book arc in the same way X-Men the animated series did for many of its comic book arcs.

I would love for this guy to simply plot the threads of the next few films to get us to the next JL movie. He should be responsible for guiding the vision of the entire film universe. No one has a better knowledge and understanding of these characters.
