Leslie Uggams has confirmed that she’s returning as Deadpool’s roommate Blind Al in the Merc with the Mouth’s next cinematic solo outing.
Speaking with Blackfilm.com at the afterparty for the premiere of HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Rebecca Skloot’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Uggams said that she’s “definitely” reprising the role in Deadpool 2.
Uggams joins Ryan Reynolds and other returning stars from the first movie, as well as franchise newcomers Zazie Beetz, who’s on board as Domino, and Josh Brolin, who recently signed a 4-picture deal to play Cable.
John Wick co-director David Leitch is at the helm, taking over from Tim Miller. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returned to pen the sequel, which is expected to shoot from June through September in Canada.
