‘Deadpool 2’ Writers Talk Most-Wanted MCU Crossovers

Deadpool 2 X-MenDeadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick share what Marvel Cinematic Universe characters they’d like to see interact with Deadpool.

With the Disney acquisition of 21st Century Fox due to begin its processes next year, fans have been quick to imagine a version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the Marvel Comics characters whose film rights were owned by Fox. The idea of a crossover between the X-Men and the Avengers has fans excited, and co-writer Reese was quick to agree; his preferred character for a Deadpool crossover would be Captain America himself:

“I mean I sure wish Chris Evans would stay in the role a little bit longer because I’d love to see Deadpool and Captain America going at it … Just because he’s so honorable and so serious and a great character and Deadpool’s pretty much the opposite and that could be fun. We’re always looking for good foils for Deadpool.”

Co-writer Wernick agreed, but had someone else on the forefront in his dream crossover:

“Iron Man, too … I mean imagine Tony Stark and Wade Wilson back and forth, you’d literally, there wouldn’t be a moment to do anything else but to jabber back and forth and my God, it would be exhausting.”

Regardless of however the Fox acquisition may end — Comcast has presented a huge cash bid for the media conglomerate in an effort to outbid Disney — the Marvel character rights would return to Disney regardless, as the deals issued out were mere leases. Within these lease contracts are contingencies such as that all Marvel rights leased by a company would return to the parent company in the event of a sale, and even include expiration dates for the use of these characters, explaining the rushed production for Fox’s failed 2015 Fantastic Four reboot. This means, to the joy of fans around the world, that there could potentially be an MCU-Deadpool crossover within the next five years at the earliest.

Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Karan Soni as Dopinder. Julian Dennison, Jack Kesy and Shioli Kutsuna join the cast in undisclosed roles.

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
