Disney Gives First-Looks At ‘Lion King’, ‘Dumbo’ & ‘Aladdin’ At CinemaCon

Disney CinemaCon Lion King Aladdin DumboDuring their presentation at this year’s CinemaCon, Disney gave first-looks from three of their upcoming live-action adaptations of some of their classic animated films. The footage shown came from Dumbo, Aladdin and The Lion King.

A first-look at Dumbo, which is directed by Academy Award-nominee Tim Burton was shown to attendees, giving them a first-look at a CGI pachyderm with its iconic massive ears. The film will bring the 1941 animated classic to life and will reportedly expand the story through Burton’s vision.

Disney’s Dumbo will star Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito and will fly into theaters on March 29, 2019.

A behind-the-scenes look at Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie gave attendees a glimpse at Mena Massoud as the titular street rat with big dreams, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, who is described as “strong and speaks her own mind,” and of course, Will Smith – who steps into the role as the Genie. Given how beloved and iconic Robin Williams’ performance as the character is, it was shown that Smith will not imitate Williams’ version.

The behind-the-scenes look also showed Smith’s Genie wearing colorful clothes and a goatee – but not with blue skin. The film also stars Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar and will soar into theaters on May 24, 2019.

Lastly, the “Circle of Life” sequence from the live-action adaptation of The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau was shown to attendees. It features Mufasa , Rafiki and baby Simba.

The film will feature the voices of Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, John Kani, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph and will stampede into theaters on July 19, 2019.

Which of these three upcoming live-action Disney adaptations are you most looking forward to? How do you think the visions of Burton, Ritchie and Favreau will be realized?
