Disney Reportedly Preparing To Replace John Lasseter As Head of Pixar Animation

John Lasseter PixarThe Hollywood Reporter has learned that multiple sources believe that Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger is preparing to move on from Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter.

Last year, Pixar CCO John Lasseter took a leave of absence following accusations of sexual misconduct and now insiders reportedly believe that Bob Iger is preparing to name a new head of Pixar and Disney Animation, according to THR. One Disney veteran explained why many think Iger will bid farewell to Lasseter, whose six-month leave of absence finishes in May:

“Bob is about keeping peace in the family. He’s not anxious to take on defending somebody with that kind of reputation.”

With John Lasseter being accused of inappropriate touching and comments about women, a former Pixar insider commented on the message that would be sent if returned:

“If John goes back, it will kill women in animation. The message will be so clear: Shut up and take it.”

Potential candidates to succeed John Lasseter reportedly include Pete Docter (Inside Out) for Pixar and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph) and Jennifer Lee (Frozen) at Disney Animation.

Pixar’s next project, Incredibles 2, arrives in theaters this summer.

Directed by Brad Bird, The Incredibles 2 stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Jonathan Banks, Sophia Bush, and Isabella Rossellini.

The Incredibles 2 will be released in theaters on June 15, 2018.
