‘Doctor Strange’ Adds Michael Stuhlbarg To The Cast In Key Role

As the Scott Derrickson helmed Doctor Strange gears up to go into production next month, we’ve learned another addition to the film’s cast. Actor Michael Stuhlbarg, who is well known for his role on Boardwalk Empire and recently appeared in Steve Jobs, has entered into negotiations with Marvel Studios for a role in the film. It’s being reported that Stuhlbarg will play Doctor Nicodermus West in the film, a rival to Stephen Strange who operates on him after his accident. In the comics, the character accompanies Strange to Tibet and learns a bit about mystical healing but abandons these studies prematurely. Is there a chance we could see the film take influence from the limited series ‘The Oath’ and incorporate the character as one of the villains? Stuhlbarg will join an already impressive cast consisting of Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen and Rachel McAdams in the 2016 Marvel Studios release.
