After almost ten years, it’s hard to believe that we are less than eight months away from Avengers: Infinity War, the massive universe-wide team-up film that the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building to since 2008’s Iron Man. What is perhaps one of the most exciting things is that we will finally be seeing characters that, ten years ago, we didn’t even know if we would ever see on the big screen being brought into the fold alongside the rest of the original Avengers. One of those characters is Doctor Strange.
While speaking to press, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch spoke a bit about what it’s like to be a part of a film on such a enormous scale. Here is what the actor said:
“It’s ten years coming. It’s just a huge, huge, huge amount of work, huge amount of storylines and it’s all sort of pointing to this confrontation. It’s amazing to be part of it even though I’m late to the party, it’s very cool one to be part of it.”
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Starlord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautisa as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Karen Gillan as Mantis, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange, Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Benedict Wong as Wong, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and Josh Brolin as Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Avengers 4 is slated for a May 3, 2019 release.
