UPDATED: Rumor: Donald Glover In Talks; Michael B. Jordan May Return For ‘Black Panther 2’

Black Panther Michael B Jordan Ryan Coogler Erik Killmonger

UPDATE: Heroic Hollywood editor-in-chief Umberto Gonzalez has confirmed the following Black Panther 2 rumor is indeed false.

The original story is as follows.

Black Panther hit home video shelves last week and it seemed like the conversation around the film couldn’t grow any bigger. That’s all about to change because now there’s some interesting news suggesting that Donald Glover will be joining the Black Panther sequel. He’s not alone though, it seems that Michael B. Jordan could be reprising his Killmonger role in the next film as well.

Despite the devastating events that happened at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel President Kevin Feige has said that Ryan Coogler will be back to direct a Black Panther 2 at some point. According to Metro.co.uk, their source has told them that Coogler is currently mapping out the sequel and considering Glover, A.K.A. Childish Gambino, for one of the new characters. This is what their source had to say about Glover’s possible involvement:

“Ryan Coogler is currently mapping out Black Panther’s sequel and has written in a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres. ‘One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino. Nothing is set in stone but “informal talks” [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen.”

The wonderful thing about the Marvel comics universe is that there are so many characters that Glover could portray. In fact, this isn’t his first time appearing in a Marvel Studios film. Glover recently played Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming. An even more surprising rumor is that Jordan may play his role of Killmonger once more. Here’s what their source had to say about Killmonger’s possible involvement with the sequel:

“They’re still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain.”

What’s particularly interesting is the wording of this quote, because it makes it seem as though they want to bring Killmonger back as a villain, and if he doesn’t come back then Glover will play a new villain. This could be a “he said, she said” that got muddled along the way or maybe Coogler truly has something special up his sleeve for the Black Panther sequel. I would’ve assumed that Killmonger would be returning in some sort of vision, but we won’t know for sure until the film hits theaters at some point during the next phase of Marvel films.

Who would you like to see Glover play in Black Panther 2? How would you like to see Killmonger return? Let us know in the comments below!
