While walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Donald Glover was asked by Variety about his role in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie. He said that he was shocked but at the same time felt like he was ready to take on the role.
“I think I was kind of precious about it because, yeah, somebody has to do it. I’m super honored to have it.”
Glover also added that he wasn’t sure about plans for additional movies following this first spin-off.

Tonight turned out very well for Glover. He took home the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for his work on Atlanta.
BBC’s own Lizo Mzimba recently chatted with Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm and producer of all the Star Wars films, where he asked for some updates on the untitled spin-off film for Han Solo. When asked how far they were into this project, Kennedy gave a simple and clear update as she confirmed when production is set to kick off.
“We are actually very close. We are going to start shooting in February!”
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and starring Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover, the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story will come to a galaxy near you on May 25, 2018.
