Elizabeth Banks Cast As Rita Repulsa In ‘Power Rangers’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks has been cast in the role of the villainous Rita Repulsa — who is described as “an alien witch who has designs on the planet.” — in Saban’s and Liongate’s upcoming Power Rangers reboot, which is slated to hit theaters on March 24, 2017

The actress joins newcomers Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Ludy Lin, Becky G and Naomi Scott, who will be playing the new incarnations of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The movie will be directed by Project Almanac helmer Dean Israelite, from a script by X-Men: First Class and Thor scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
