Emilia Clarke Teases The New ‘Star Wars’ Films From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Creators

Solo Star WarsHBO’S Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are taking flight in the galaxy far, far away, as they are slated to produce an all-new series based on the Star Wars Universe. What it will be remains under wraps, for now.

In an interview with Variety, Emilia Clarke, who exists in both fantasy worlds as Daenerys Targaryen in the series’ final season, and as Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, shared her thoughts about what the showrunners can bring to Lucas’ mythology:

“What they brought to fantasy as a genre that people are like, appreciating on a much grander scale, putting all of that creativity and all of that skill and intellect into something that already has so much, I think it’s just gonna be like Star Wars on acid. I think it’ll be amazing. I can’t wait.”

They will more than likely start developing the storyline as soon as the season has completed production. With Solo already out this weekend, and the recent announcement that James Mangold (The Wolverine, Logan) will helm the highly anticipated film based on Boba Fett. The screenwriters got a great endorsement from the producer of Solo, Kathleen Kennedy, herself proclaiming that they will:

“…break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

Hopefully, they won’t fall under the same fate as the last pair of filmmakers who contributed to the Star Wars universe with Solo as Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired after three-quarters of principal photography were completed due to creative differences.

5 Reasons To Be Excited (And 5 Reasons To Worry) About ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

Previous1 of 11

Solo A Star Wars StoryIt’s been roughly five months since The Last Jedi came out, which means it’s time for another Star Wars movie! The second anthology film that explores the Star Wars universe’s past, Solo follows a young Han Solo as he becomes a smuggler. Before he had the Millennium Falcon or considered Luke Skywalker one of his best friends, Han was still talking and blasting his away across the galaxy.

A new Star Wars film is typically a cause for celebration, but there’s something different about Solo. The posters and print material all look fun and stylized, but the actual trailer looks gray and unsatisfying. There are a lot of things propping this movie up, mainly that it is about Han Solo, arguably the most popular character in the entire franchise, but there are also a lot of things dragging it down. Hopefully Solo will kick butt, but without Harrison Ford at the center of the action, it’s hard to say!
