Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise, and perhaps was the best thing out of the prequels. As a result, fans have been wanting Ewan McGregor to reprise his role for some time. So, during the promotion of Beauty and the Beast and Trainspotting 2, Business Insider got the chance to speak with the actor about returning for the role.
“Listen, I have been asked about it a lot, to the point where it looks a bit like I’m sort of touting for work. I’ve been very open to say I’d be happy to do it, if they want to do it.”
When asked directly about a spin-off film focused primarily on his character, he kind of danced around the subject.
“I think they are set going into the 2030s with their movies, but it would be fun to do, of course I’d be happy to do it.”
With his responses it’s fairly impossible to tell as to whether or not McGregor has been approached about upcoming films. All actors seem to be good at pretending they haven’t already been approached or signed on to a project, and this could be no different.
8 Ways In Which ‘Star Wars’ Can Reach Its Full Potential
The Star Wars Universe is one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time and the high quality of the recent films are not only proving how strong a franchise it is, but also continuing to gain legions of new fans every year. The series is fantastic and Disney’s films have brought it back in favor with both audiences and fans, but like any good franchise there are always ways in which a series can improve and as a huge fan I don’t think the series is at its full potential yet. There have been some minor issues and things that could be done differently that could make the series even greater than it already is and these can be addressed in future Star Wars films and in other mediums as well. With all of this being said it is appropriate to look at some of these issues and see how they can be addressed in a manner that could give everyone what they will want.
