F. Gary Gray To Direct Hasbro’s ‘MASK’ Adaptation For Paramount

M.A.S.K. HasbroDirector F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta ComptonThe Fate of the Furious) has been tasked by Paramount Pictures to handle MASK, one of the first new films as part of Hasbro’s new Allspark Pictures label.

Deadline reports that Gray and Paramount are in discussions to develop Hasbro’s line of films beyond the Transformers series with an adaptation of MASK. The toy line itself is based around a group of heroic drivers, known as the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (MASK), who utilize vehicular combat to take down the Vicious Evil Network Of Mayhem (VENOM). Given Gray’s previous experience with all things fast and furious, he seems like a natural fit for the project.

Gray is currently working on Sony’s May 17, 2019 Men In Black spin-off, meaning that completion of this project is likely a while away. Allspark Pictures is currently developing several film projects based on Hasbro-owned properties, including a G. I. Joe reboot, Micronauts, and Dungeons & Dragons, along with a currently-untitled movie that some speculate could be a reboot of the Transformers film series. It is unclear if any of these properties will take place in a shared universe.

MASK is in development to be released at an unspecified time. The film will be directed by F. Gary Gray.

10 Characters Who Should Appear In The ‘Nightwing’ Movie

Previous1 of 11

Nightwing DCSo Michael Cera’s appearance as Dick Grayson in The LEGO Batman Movie wasn’t enough for all you Nightwing fans, huh? Well, Warner Bros. is listening and has decided to give Heroic Hollywood’s number one sidekick his own movie. The LEGO Batman Movie helmer Chris McKay has been named the director of a Nightwing movie no one saw coming. Nightwing’s place in the DC Extended Universe is up in the air. How long ago did he quit being Robin? Are he and Batman speaking right now? Why wasn’t he mentioned in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

While the movie will likely answer all those questions, I expect it will also serve as an introduction to a different corner of the Batman universe. Batman might be in it for a scene or two, but the movie will need a supporting cast to help Nightwing appear as the kickass, sociable character he is. Bruce Wayne has got the brooding down, but former circus performer Dick Grayson knows how to have fun in a way his mentor doesn’t.
