‘Fantastic Beasts’ Producer Discusses Colin Farrell’s Future In…

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Right from the get-go, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them establishes that Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) is a bad guy. We don’t actually see his face in the opening sequence of the movie, but towards the end we learn that Grindelwald had been hiding among the American wizarding community as none other than Percival Graves (Colin Farrell), who was the head of MACUSA’s Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

This reveal did not sit well with quite a few fans. Many are hoping that the real Graves is still somewhere out there and that Grindelwald had been using him to brew the Polyjuice Potion that allowed him to take his form during his time at the MACUSA. After all, it seemed like the rest of the Aurors who worked there were treating him as if he had been working there for quite some time, meaning that Graves was definitely a real person.

Producer David Heyman confirmed this in a recent interview with SnitchSeeker and revealed that they didn’t even film what happened to the real Graves, meaning that you shouldn’t expect to see that in the deleted scenes that will be included in the Blu-ray:

“That’s a very good question. I’ve been wondering… I’m amazed more people haven’t picked up on that. Yes, there was a real Graves. Yes, someone used some Polyjuice potion and took their place. I don’t know where they are at the story’s end, But yes, there was a real Graves. We didn’t film him. We didn’t film the Polyjuice. We just dived into the story midway through.”

When asked whether or not we’re going to see Farrell in the second movie, Heyman said the following:

“There’s no plans to bring Colin back for the sequel. “

Now, there’s obviously a chance that Heyman could be lying, but that remains to be seen. Details about the sequel are being kept under lock and key, but we know that it will see Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) journey to Paris. In addition to the core group of Newt, Jacob, Tina and Queenie, as well as Grindelwald and Credence, Fantastic Beasts 2 will also feature Zoe Kravitz’s Leta Lestrange and a young Albus Dumbledore.
