‘Fantastic Beasts’: Eddie Redmayne Discovers His Patronus’ Identity

If you are an avid fan of the Harry Potter universe chances are you have spent some time on J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website. Popular with fans hoping to feel a part of the Wizarding world, the sites newest feature allowed visitors to discover the identity of their Patronus, a guardian which usually takes the form of the animal with whom the individual in question shares a deep affinity. Now, Eddie Redmayne, star of the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has taken part in the fun in a new video from the official Pottermore Youtube channel.

The video features Redmayne taking the same quiz fans have, where a user is asked to choose between a series of answers such as sweet or salty, before finally discovering the identity of his Patronus.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
