As someone who grew up with the series, it’s hard to believe that it’s already been more than five years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 hit theaters, but we’ll soon be able to travel back to J. K. Rowling’s wizarding world in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Early reviews for the Harry Potter spin-off have been very positive (expect our review later this week), meaning that audiences are in for a treat when they finally meet Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander and explore a whole new corner of this ever-growing cinematic universe, but what will this movie actually be about?
Back in 2013, Warner Bros. and Rowling announced that they would be teaming up to bring the wizarding world back to the big screen with a project that would be based on a textbook that’s mentioned in 1997’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Written by Scamander himself, this 128-page textbook shares the same name as the upcoming movie and describes 85 different magical creatures scattered around the world.
With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them just around the corner, we’ve decided to put a together a list of everything you should know about the movie, including some must-know facts about its characters and the people involved with the project, as well as what you should expect to see in future installments. Just hit next and let’s get started, but be aware of a few spoilers throughout the list.
