THR reports the upcoming 8th installment of the Fast franchise, The Fate of the Furious has landed a release date in China. The film will open in the world’s second-largest box office territory on April 14, the same day the film makes its debut in the United States as well as the U.K. and India.
The previous film in the franchise Furious 7 still holds the record for the highest opening of all time in China at $182,400,000.
The new film follows the fast family around the globe from New York City to Cuba to the Arctic as they attempt to bring back the leader Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) from the criminal underworld and stop the anarchist Cipher (Charlize Theron) unleashing terror on the world.
The film stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Chris Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Natalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Kristofer Hijvu, with Kurt Russel, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren. Here’s the official synopsis:

Ghost in the Shell, the live-action adaptation of the classic anime starring Scarlett Johansson has also secured a release the week prior to Fast 8, opening April 7 with the third installment to Sony’s Smurfs franchise Smurfs: The Lost Village hitting theaters on April 21.
