Pop it, D-Man! Leeloo and Korben Dallas are back as Sony Pictures has announced The Fifth Element is returning to the cinema with an exclusive preview of Luc Besson’s new space opera Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevigne.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the film will return for a special two-day release presented by Fathom Events and Sony Pictures marking the 20th anniversary of the sci-fi action adventure. The screenings set for Sunday, May 14, and Wednesday, May 17, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m ET/PT will debut a 4K restoration of the film.
The 1997 film featured groundbreaking visual effects for its time as it took you on a rousing adventure two hundred years into the future when the disheveled cab driver Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) finds the fate of the world thrust into his hands and must overcome the odds to help the fifth element, Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) come together with the other four elements of the Earth to stop a great evil from destroying the planet.
The film stars Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker, Ian Holm, Luke Perry, Tricky, Tommy Lister and Gary Oldman. Here’s the official synopsis:
In the 23rd century, a New York City cabbie, Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), finds the fate of the world in his hands when Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his cab. As the embodiment of the fifth element, Leeloo needs to combine with the other four to keep the approaching Great Evil from destroying the world. Together with Father Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) and zany broadcaster Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker), Dallas must race against time and the wicked industrialist Zorg (Gary Oldman) to save humanity.
Besson’s next adventure, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets hits theaters July 21, 2017.
