Has Zack Snyder Revealed Our First Look At The Villain In ‘Aquaman’?

Zack Snyder shared a glimpse at visual effects test footage today of Jason Mamoa as Aquaman in the upcoming superhero team-up feature Justice League, potentially revealing the villain from Aquaman.

In the footage, the King of Atlantis can be seen swimming up to what like it could Orm Marius, aka Ocean Master who was previously announced as a villain along with Black Manta in the upcoming standalone feature.

Back in December, Warner Bros. announced they were continuing to bulk up the DCEU with A-list talent with the addition of Patrick Wilson as the villainous Ocean Master in James Wan’s upcoming swashbuckling action adventure Aquaman.

In the comics, Ocean Master was the fully human half-brother of Aquaman. He turned nemesis after growing up in Arthur’s shadow, resenting him and turning to technology as a high-tech pirate first attacking ships at sea and later moving on to causing natural disasters in an attempt to hold the world ransom.

The choice to cast Wilson was a smart move for Wan and Warner Brothers. The director and the studio has a long history working with Wilson as he has starred in both of the on-going Insidious and The Conjuring franchises.

Our commenters have also pointed out that the mysterious person looks like it could be The Dead King. Based on the helmet and what looks to be a trident in the photo, it certainly seems possible. The Dead King was once Atlan, the greatest King of Atlantis and father of Aquaman in pre-New 52 continuity.

Whoever this mysterious person is, it seems likely we will be introduced to the character when Justice League arrives November 17, 2017.

Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa will be the fifth outing in the DCEU. The character was first introduced in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will also be featured as a main character in Justice League.

The film also stars Amber Heard as Mera, Queen of Atlantis, Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father Thomas Curry, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. Plot details are still unavailable as an official synopsis has yet to be released, however, a possible synopsis was recently revealed. You can check it out here.

I don’t think that’s Ocean Master, first Patrick Wilson hasn’t filmed anything for JL, he wasn’t even cast at that point, also the character looks much older.

I’m pretty sure that I remember from that JL set visit last year several reporters sharing that they saw concept art for Aquaman with the remains of a dead king.

    • That’s what it looks like, an old king of Atlantis. Also, Ocean Master is fully Atlantean, not fully human.
