The CW’s ‘The Flash’ Casts American Pie Star Chris Klein As Season 5 Villain

The FlashThe Arrowverse series The Flash has finally revealed who the upcoming villain for season 5 will be, as well as revealing American Pie star Chris Klein in the role.

The CW’s The Flash has consistently put the titular hero up against othe speedsters, which makes sense considering speed gives him a huge advantage over many foes. While the big baddies for each season may be speedsters, we’ve seen The Flash foiled by plenty of other villain types. Now, it seems that the new season of The Flash will pit the hero against, not a speedster, but a villain who might share a link with Flash.

The Flash season 5 will see Chris Klein become the nefarious cult leader Cicada, aka David Hersch. Hersch was struck by a bolt of lightning that he believed to be the same one that struck the Flash, expect that this bolt of lightning did not give Hersch super speed. Instead, Hersch was given the ability to absorb the life force of other people, which extends his life span. We’ve seen the scarlet speedster go up against cult leaders before, with season 3’s Doctor Alchemy, but it seems that this time he won’t have a speedster pulling the nefarious strings.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen.

The Flash season 5 premieres on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
