Former ‘Ant-Man’ Villain Joins The Cast Of ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ To Play Rip Hunter’s Mentor

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which premiered last night on The CW, seems to be adding a new Time Master to its arsenal, and with it, some changes to a characters comic history.

Martin Donovan (Ant-Man, Homeland, Rogue) has joined the cast as Rip Hunter’s former Time Master mentor.

According to the report from IGN:

He is a seasoned Time Master who is accustomed with mediating conflicts throughout history. Druce finds himself faced with his greatest challenge when he is tasked to find Rip and convince him to abandon his hunt for Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). If he can’t convince his former pupil and the Legends to give up their quest, he may be forced to kill the man he looked upon as a son.

In the comics, Rip Hunter’s mentor (and later revealed to be his father) was actually Booster Gold, but with news that DC is planning on using the character in a future film it would make sense that they simply changed it to avoid any conflict.

This marks the second former MCU cast member to join the ranks of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, with the first being Falk Hentschel.

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow is currently airing on Thursday nights on The CW.
