On Friday, Jason Momoa took to Instagram to announce that the Aquaman solo film is a wrap after 114 days — but that doesn’t mean the news on social media is slowing down, not with over a year to go before the release date. Late after the announcement from Aquaman himself, former WWE wrestler Mada Abdelhamid also took to Instagram to reveal his involvement in the film.
With footage of Abdelhamid, Momoa and Amber Heard on the beaches of Currumbin Queensland surfacing, the Instagram post was more courtesy than anything. Why hide what’s already been on the news? Abdelhamid said as much in his caption, which you can read below along with seeing his post.
Was keeping this under wraps…. but since it’s all over the news here in Australia I might as well share. Had an EPIC time shooting my scene in Aquaman. Pretty cool having a few camels in this scene being from Egypt and all 😂 We are wrapping up down here in beautiful Gold Coast Australia… it was such an amazing experience. The last 7 months down here have just been incredible, we had a hell of a group. Going to miss everyone!!! Till next time Australia …. now time to go travel the world 😝 #CaptainSluggo

There’s no telling how camels play into Aquaman, but the film has been said to have an Indiana Jones vibe to it. And with the ocean obviously playing a major role, Mera and Arthur Curry would be able to make their way around the world quite easily. As for Abdelhamid, for those unfamiliar, he appeared on the WWE reality show Tough Enough, but ended up going the way of many other contestants and departed the WWE earlier this year — it’s not easy to make a name for yourself in the WWE these days apparently.
So what do you make of the former wrestler’s role? If nothing else, at least Momoa wasn’t the biggest guy on set, then again they also had Dolph Lundgren around. Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts!
Directed by James Wan and written by Will Beall, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.
Aquaman is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on Dec. 21, 2018.
