Fox Sets Dates For Six More Marvel Movies Through 2021

Fox MarvelIt appears that Fox has some big Marvel plans in the next few years besides X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 2 and the new X-Men spin-off, New Mutants. Exhibitor Relations is reporting that the studio has set dates for six untitled Fox-Marvel films through 2021. The dates are:

  • 6/7/19
  • 11/22/19
  • 3/3/20
  • 6/26/20
  • 10/2/20
  • 3/5/21

It feels safe to say that at least one of those dates will be for Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds. For years now there has been an X-Force movie in the works so it wouldn’t be a shock if one of these six Fox-Marvel dates is for that film. Should New Mutants be a success, it would make sense for Fox to have a sequel slotted somewhere between 2020 and 2021.

One of the six dates is probably going to be for another X-Men movie after Dark Phoenix. While we don’t know what the plans are for the Fantastic Four characters, could the studio be using one of these dates for another installment, whether it will be a continuation of the 2015 franchise or a complete reboot? Only time will tell. Even though the Gambit film, starring Channing Tatum, doesn’t have a director attached right now, maybe it will be slotted for one of those dates.

Josh Boone’s New Mutants, starring Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Moonstar and Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes, arrive in theaters on April 13, 2018.

Deadpool 2, starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, recently started filming and is set to hit theaters on June 1, 2019. Then we have X-Men: Dark Phoenix which recently announced the return of several cast members, with Simon Kinberg set to direct the film that will come out on November 2, 2018.

Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, starring James McAvoy as Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast, Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe a.k.a. Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner a.k.a. Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver and Lamar Johnsonis slated to hit theaters on November 2, 2018.

8 X-Men Characters Who Deserve Their Own Movie

Previous1 of 9

X-MenSo it’s probably safe to assume everyone here has seen Logan? Well, based on how well it did in the box-office I think Fox is taking notes. Now that they have both Deadpool and Logan under their belts, I’m sure they will be bringing more X-Men characters to the big-screen as soon as possible.

There are so many great X-Men arcs to choose from, but I think focusing on personal stories and fewer characters is a way to ensure the movie connects with an audience. Mutants were originally composed as a metaphor for the Civil Rights movement, and that issue is still very much so alive in our society. I’m not saying every movie needs to be political, but they all have the potential to be about so much more than destruction and boss battles. Fox focus on smaller, personal stories that show mutants in a different light. Sure they can kick ass, but let’s make sure they always feel like real people, as Logan did.

Did I miss your favorite character? Well, let me know in the comment section why they should be included! So hit Next to see the eight mutants I think Fox should bring to the big-screen next!
