Since 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, the Bourne movie franchise has been reinvigorated twice with Jeremy Renner starring as Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy, which fell flat and the return of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne this summer in the very simply titled, Jason Bourne. With the recent picture bringing in over $400 million worldwide.
While he has been promoting the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Jason Bourne, series producer, Frank Marshall spoke to Yahoo Movies about the possibility of a sixth outing for Bourne.
“I have spoken to them both. Obviously they’re very pleased with how the movie turned out. It’s really about the story, just like on this one, everyone said ‘if you come to us with a good story, we’ll think about it.’
So right now, we’re taking a pause and then we’re going to dive back in and try to find a story. We did leave it wide open at the end of the movie to continue on in Bourne’s world so we’ll see what we can come up with.”
In regards to continuing the story of Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross from The Bourne Legacy, Marshall had the following to say
“Probably not. I don’t know. That story is still out there as well but it’s not… we’re not talking about it.”
Jason Bourne was directed by Paul Greengrass who directed both The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum and saw Matt Damon return to the titular role. The film also starred, Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Julia Stiles. Jason Bourne is available to buy on Blu-Ray and DVD now.
