Freeform & Marvel’s ‘New Warriors’ To Film In Atlanta

New Warriors Comic Book TVOne of the many new Marvel TV shows that are coming in the 2017-2018 TV season is New Warriors, the first comedy series from Marvel, starring Squirrel Girl as one of the leading characters. Cougar Town and Scrubs writer Kevin Biegel has been set as the show-runner, with Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory executive producing.

The show is set to arrive on Freeform sometime in 2018, the same network as Cloak & Dagger which will also be premiering next year. Atlanta Filming is reporting that New Warriors will be filming in Atlanta, Georgia sometime this year. Atlanta is quickly becoming a new home for several new comic book TV shows, with both DC’s Titans and The CW’s Black Lightning filming there too.

The New Warriors will consist of Craig Hollis a.k.a. Mister Immortal, Dwayne Taylor a.k.a. Night Thrasher, Robbie Baldwin a.k.a. Speedball, Zack Smith a.k.a. Microbe, Deborah Fields a.k.a. Debrii as well as Doreen Green a.k.a. Squirrel Girl. Hopefully we will be getting some casting updates on the show now that we know where it will film.

“Marvel’s New Warriors” is about six young people with powers living and working together.  With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready.  Not quite super, not yet heroes, “Marvel’s New Warriors” is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.”

Marvel’s New Warriors is set to premiere sometime in 2018 on Freeform.
