Comic Writer Gail Simone Wants To Write A ‘Power Rangers’ Sequel

Power Rangers

For those of us still holding out hope that Saban’s Power Rangers will somehow manage to earn itself a sequel, the good news is that it is doing pretty well in its first week since its home video release. If the film does ever get the green light for a sequel, one notable writer has already thrown her hat into the ring to pen it.

Comic book writer Gail Simone (known for her runs on Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Birds of Prey) was live-tweeting her home viewing of Power Rangers recently, and revealed that she was legitimately invested in the lives of the film’s teenage protagonists, to the point that she actually now wants to write a Power Rangers movie.

Check out the tweets in question below:

Simone went on to tweet more about the film and answer her followers questions. She said that her favorite scene in the film is the one between Kimberly (Naomi Scott) and Trini (Becky G) in the coffee shop and that if she could change anything in the film, she would fix Alpha-5 (Bill Hader) and make Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) scarier and funnier.

She finished off her run on Power Rangers by stating that she already has an idea for where she would take the characters next:

Directed by Dean Israelite, the film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks and Bill Hader.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discoverer they are the only ones who save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers is available now on Blu-Ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD and Digital HD.

It depends. With the first movie they have certain things lined up to happen. If she can come in and deliver on them then yes. If shes coming in to force a agenda like I think she is then no.
