Gal Gadot On The Best Thing About Playing Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot revealed that the best thing about playing Wonder Woman is that she always wished to play her, she just didn’t know it yet.

The actress opened up about playing the iconic superheroine to the press last year during a set visit for Wonder Woman, telling the press:

“The best part… somehow I think that I always wished to play Wonder Woman without even knowing it myself.  Eight years ago when I just became an actress I used to travel to Los Angeles and take general meetings with different producers, different writers, directors, and they kept on asking me the same question over and over again: ‘What’s your dream role?’ And I kept on saying I’m open to all genres as long as the story is interesting enough, but if you’re really asking what would I like to do is show the stronger side of women because I feel that there’s not enough stories being told about strong women, an independent woman, and little did I know that five years later I land the part.”

Gadot elaborated on the intense challenge of playing the character back to back to back, jumping from the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice right into Wonder Woman and then into directly after Justice League:

“We’re going through some very, very intensive weeks. [Directory] Patty [Jenkins] was just saying we’re really testing to see if I’m the true, real Wonder Woman. They decided to shoot the movie in London, which is fantastic… in the winter which is less amazing,” she said with a laugh.

One of the biggest challenges playing the superheroine is the physicality that Gadot had to bring on set every day but no matter how physically demanding the role can be, Gadot admitted the physicality required made her happy:

“The physicality of it is really challenging, but I like it, I enjoy it.  It makes me happy after I do it right… But I really love Diana, I love everything about her. I love the story: she has a heart of a human being, powers of a goddess and a very wise brain so it is everything. I love her.”

Wonder Woman, the fourth outing in the DCEU, has become one of, if not the most anticipated blockbuster of summer 2017 which is a summer season that is jam packed with epic blockbusters. Gadot will reprise her role as Wonder Woman again later this year when Justice League hits theaters in the fall.

The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope and Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief. Here’s the official synopsis:

“’Wonder Woman’ hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins.
