Academy Gal Gadot Chris EvansActors Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, and Gal Gadot are among the Marvel and DC stars joining The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Oscar granting organization sent out a record high total of 744 invitations on Wednesday which also includes Dwayne Johnson and Wonder Woman actress Elena Anaya as well as directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War, Captain America: Winter Soldier), Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers) and David Ayer (Suidice Squad).

The increase in invitations to join the Academy is a continued effort to diversify the membership ranks of the organization by bringing in more people of color, women, and filmmakers from all over the globe after the #OscarsSoWhite controversy in 2014 called out the Academy’s lack of recognition for diverse talents within the entertainment industry.

The new list of 744 invitees — which breaks the record of 683 invitations sent out last year — is comprised of 39% female and 30% people of color from a total of 57 countries and will bring the Academy’s member total close to 8,000.

I feel like, if I were ever to get an invitation to the Academy, it would’ve been this year. My filmography is as impressive as some of these official invitees, and I’ve never been in a major motion picture! Kind of ridiculous, but go diversity, go!

I’m assuming comic book movies now have a better chance at getting the real awards that matter…
