Gambit: Lea Seydoux Offered ‘Bella Donna Boudreaux’ Role

Earlier this month, a shortlist of actresses who were in the running for the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux in Rupert Wyatt’s Gambit surfaced, which included the likes of Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), Lea Seydoux (Spectre), and Abbey Lee Kershaw (Mad Max: Fury Road).

Ferguson eventually decided to take herself out of the running so she could star in Tate Taylor’s The Girl on the Train, and now it looks like Seydoux has been offered a deal to star opposite Channing Tatum in the upcoming superhero movie. The Wrap first reported the news that Seydoux was up for role back in July.

In the comics, Bella Donna was Gambit’s first love and the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild. LeBeau, who was member of the Thieves’ Guild, wound up marrying Bella as part of an arranged ceremony by their fathers in hopes of uniting the two Guilds. Things went awry after Bella Donna’s brother Julien challenged Remy to a deadly duel, one which Remy won, and was then exiled from New Orleans leaving Bella Donna behind.
