Not Even The Cast of ‘Game Of Thrones’ Get To Read Season 8 Scripts

Game of ThronesWith season eight of Game of Thrones set to commence filming for its final season soon, it appears as though HBO is taking some relatively extreme measures in order to keep the series’s conclusion kept tightly under wraps.

Fansided reports that actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who portrays Jaime Lannister was recently on a Scandinavian talk show called Skavlan and discussed how far the show’s producers are trying to leave not just the audience in the dark when it comes to season eight but also its cast:

“The first season we got the scripts like you should get them and then you could sit and do notes and stuff. And then after a couple of years, they got paranoid because there was some leaks so we had to get them only digital, on a PDF file.”

Coster-Waldau, of course, is referring to how season seven was plagued with several leaks that that made its way onto the internet. The actor also reveals (albeit a bit exaggerated) just how secretive the plot will be contained even while shooting a scene:

“And then the hack happened, so now we’re not even going to get the script. Now we are going to do a scene, we will be told what’s going to happen and then we roll. We’re all going to have earpieces for the scene and then someone’s going to tell you the line and then you’re going to do the line.”

With a lengthy production ahead and all signs pointing towards a 2019 release for the final season of Game of Thrones can the producers learn from past leaks in order to keep the conclusion under wraps? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think!

Previous1 of 8

Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen The Night King Jon SnowGame of Thrones season seven is done, so now audiences have to wait for about a year or so to find out what the epic ending will be. While that may seem like a lot of time, just remember book readers have been waiting six years to find out things that were given away in scenes filled with poorly written exposition.

Regardless, season eight is set to be quite explosive! Not only will audiences be treated to watching the fall of the Night King, but Cersei Lannister is likely to finally learn how cruel karma can be. There are gonna be small, emotional moments like the reunion between Bran and Jon and massive fight scenes like the confrontation between Theon and Euron Greyjoy. No matter what happens, fans will have to accept that this is the end of the Game of Thrones story. Hopefully, the team behind the biggest TV phenomenon in decades will bring everything to an exciting, well written conclusion!
