Earlier we showed some of the Game of Thrones 2016 campaign ads HBO release for who was part of the 2016 “Game of Thrones Party” campaigns. A four-way contest between Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, and Petyr Baelish was for fans to pick to decide who should ultimately rule the realm. Fans had all month to vote for who they wanted to win, and with the votes cast, they have chosen their Protector of the Realm.
With more than 1,666,642 votes cast, fans chose Jon Snow as the victor. The “King of the North” with his running mate was Lyanna Mormont was elected with 35% of the vote. The second and third place was a virtual tie for Daenerys Targaryen (running mate Tyrion Lannister) and Petyr Baelish (with Sansa running mate Stark) with 32% each. Cersei Lannister (running mate Qyburn) finished with a dismal 2% of the vote. After all, no one really likes Cersei.
Much like our real elections, it was razor thin. On the show, though, armies, not votes determine who will eventually win. This by no means is how it may end up on the show, which is famous for pissing off fans by killing favorites. This does help confirm who the most popular character on the show is.
