With Game of Thrones set to begin it’s penultimate season in just over one week, several key characters will begin to make their final move to claim the Iron Throne. However, amidst the chaos and duplicity, it appears Missandei and Grey Worm will find some time to address the romantic chemistry between them. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Nathalie Emmanuel discussed how both characters will begin to explore their feelings for each other in the seventh season.
Emmanuel explained why both characters, whom fans have long been hoping would become a romantic couple, will finally begin to acknowledge their feelings:
“These two have always hidden behind their duty, but times like this where it’s not guaranteed they will even see each other again, where he might be killed and she might be … who knows … they’re having to confront their emotions and feelings to each other.”
Emmanuel also teased Missandei’s important role this season:
“It’s the same thing every season: I don’t think [showruners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] can outdo themselves, and then they do. And the role that Missandei has been playing becomes ever more important because they’re facing war and potential death. Distractions aren’t really welcome, though Missandei has a few of her own.”
