‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Dismisses Rumors Of Alternate Endings Being Filmed

Game of Thrones Jaime Lannister
Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has just denied rumors that the Game of Thrones is filming entirely different versions of the series finale as a way of counteracting spoilers.

Talking with Marie Claire, Coster-Waldau responded incredulously when asked if they’d be filming alternate versions of the show’s final episodes as a way of preventing spoilers from getting out:

“Do you think that’s true? It seems really stupid to me. I mean if it’s true I don’t believe it, but I don’t know, maybe. I mean, I haven’t read the script, so unless they will show several endings that could be a twist, they’re not going to waste that money. They know how expensive it is to shoot. You’re not going to waste $100,000 a day to shoot something you’re not going to use. It’s not going to happen.”

His response suggests that he doesn’t completely know for sure, but as it stands, it’s not likely that Game of Thrones is going to film four different version of the series finale if they’re never going to air three. What might be possible is that certain scenes could be filmed to throw people off in the event of a leak – as was the case with AMC’s The Walking Dead, which filmed multiple versions of Negan’s infamous execution scene to prevent the identity of his victim in the adaptation from getting out before the premiere. The show certainly is getting a bigger budget for its last hurrah, but it’s not likely that they’ll film massive sequences that only a few people are ever going to see.

Game of Thrones Season 7 has aired in its entirety on HBO. The series stars Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish, Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Conleth Hill as Varys, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark, Jerome Flynn as Bronn, Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont, Hannah Murray as Gilly.
