Gary Oldman Would Like To Have A Role In A Marvel Film

Gary Oldman MarvelSome of the greatest actors and actresses alive have taken on roles in comic book films – particularly roles as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Living legends such as Robert Redford and Michael Douglass have appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Ant-Man just to name a few. Now, another great actor has expressed interest in having a Marvel role and it’s none other than Gary Oldman.

While on the Red Carpet at this year’s SAG Awards, Oldman was asked about whether he would be interested in appearing in a Marvel film, to which he humorously responds:

Oldman has had prominent comic book film experience in the past. He famously portrayed Commissioner Jim Gordon in all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Commissioner Gordon is currently played by Academy Award-winner J.K. Simmons in the DC Extended Universe.

Oldman is currently a frontrunner in this year’s Oscar race for his acclaimed performance as Winston Churchill in the film, Darkest Hour. He was previously nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Would you like to see Oldman in a Marvel role? If so, what character would you like to see him play? Sound off in the comments below.

You can see Oldman in Darkest Hour, in theaters now.

10 Ways DC Films Can Succeed

Previous1 of 11

Justice League DCAs DC fans, and even comic book fans in general, it is a sad time to behold in the world of DC Comics movies. Call it what you may (the DC Extended Universe or the DC Films Universe), but it’s no secret that DC has had a bad run with its recent films. With the undeniable critic annihilation of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and simple flop of Justice League, there are a lot of question marks surrounding the DC Extended Universe.

I’m a huge DC fan myself, and want nothing more than these movies to succeed and compete with Marvel on a larger scale, as I am sure many of you readers do as well. While Justice League and Batman v Superman were loved by many, DC and Warner Brothers have to take a long look at those movies and ask themselves what went wrong. Not only that, but they must take a look at movies like Wonder Woman (and even in some cases, Man of Steel) and ask the more important question: “What went right?”

As many people look at what can be done to save the DC Extended Universe, they instead should be looking for ways it can succeed from here. With that being said, here are ten ways (fact or speculation) DC Films can succeed from here. Click Next to get started!

I could totally see Gary Oldman playing Charles Xavier once the Disney/Fox deal goes through with Emma Stone as Jean Grey, Jake Gyllenhaal as Cyclops, Armie Hammer as Angel, Chandler Riggs as Iceman, Manish Dayal as Beast, Thandie Newton as Storm, German actor -Louis Hofman as Nightcrawler, Kit Harrington as Wolverine, the dude who plays Colossus in Deadpool, and Millie Bobby Brown as Kitty Pryde with supporting cast like Lucas Till as Cyclops younger brother -Havok, Emma Dumont as Polaris, Kristen Kreuk as Psylocke, Megan Fallows as Moira McTaggert, and Bill Nye as Magneto.

Keep dreaming pal. This’ll never happen.

Could have him play Galactus in future MCU films or Nightmare (The Doctor Strange villian) or even the real Mandarin in a 4th Iron Man film.

    • Matias Gagliardone

It would be better if the real Mandarin was actually Chinese.

  • Ruben C Barron

Have him make the exact swap JK Simmons did as the new J. Jonah Jameson.

I just said the same thing to a buddy right now.

      It would be HI-LARIOUS.
