‘Gotham’: Ben McKenzie To Make Directorial Debut In Season 3

gotham-ben-mckenzieIt’s not uncommon to see actors of various shows at some point sit in the director’s chair as they take on an episode to direct and that’s what is coming for Gotham’s leading man, Ben McKenzie. During a Facebook Live event with TV Guide Magazine’s Damian Holbrook, McKenzie, who plays Jim Gordon, was giving teases to what is coming up in Season 3B. He revealed that he will be making his directorial debut this season as he was teasing the arrival of another member from the Gordon family coming to the show.

“There will be another Gordon family member that will be introduced, I can tease that. Actually, that’s part of the episode that I get to direct. It’s my first time ever, directing, I’m so excited! I start prepping right before Christmas and we start shooting it right after, so very soon. I’m reading the outlines right now and I work story documents and things like that. But I haven’t actually gotten the script yet.”

Later in the Q&A, he confirms that the episode he will be directing, is the sixteenth episode of the third season. For the full Q&A, check out the video below.

Congratulations to Ben for continuing to grow and take on new challenges professionally. I know that he’s spoken about spending time and working with directors on his other series and films and that he was in line to direct on Southland if it had gone to a 6th season. Looking forward to his double duty in that upcoming episode and to meeting another Gordon family member. I hope it’s as good as the excellent, but too brief, Jim and father scene.
