In an interview with CBR, Gotham executive producer John Stephens confirmed several new villains that will be appearing in the final season of Fox’s Batman prequel show.
Gotham’s fate was unclear until the very last minute. In fact, many assumed the show would be canceled after the season finale. However, with only a few more episodes left before hitting the 100 episodes required to reach syndication, Fox decided to renew the show for a fifth and final season. John Stephens revealed the show will be going out with a bang, introducing Scarface and Orphan to the series in the final season:
“There are a whole bunch of characters I want to see that I feel the viewers at large aren’t fully aware of, like Scarface or Ventriloquist. There’s a great dark version of that character somewhere out there who I would like to see come out. Some characters we know we want to see are Mother and Orphan. We want to see Lady Shiva. We are going to see all those characters in Season 5.”
Fans may remember Scarface from Batman: The Animated Series. The villain is a puppet controlled by the meek Ventriloquist, Arnold Wesker. However, it’s often questioned if it’s Wesker or the puppet that is really in control. Orphan and Mother are newer characters to the Batman mythos. Orphan is actually former Batgirl, Cassie Kane. While during Orphan’s first appears as an adversary in Batman and Robin: Eternal, the character does eventually become an ally to the Bat-family.
So what do you think? Are you excited for these new villains to make their way to Gotham? Let us know down in the comments!
Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith, Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Chris Chalk, Crystal Reed and Alexander Siddig.
10 Reasons Jared Leto Is The Worst Joker
The Joker is one of the most iconic characters in fiction. His bombastic schemes, twisted behavior and eerie laugh are the things nightmares are made from. Amazing actors like Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger have brought the Joker to life over the years, and he will continue to grace the big and small screen for years to come.
Jared Leto is another amazing actor who’s been lucky enough to play the Joker. The actor was dealt a poor script in Suicide Squad and wasn’t given a chance to properly shine. Certain aspects of his character were enjoyable, and hopefully he will be better in future renditions, but for now, Leto is considered a disappointment. No matter how far the actor pushed himself to get into character, things just didn’t click for him this time around.
