‘Greatest American Hero’ Reboot Adds 3 New Cast Members

greatest american heroThe Greatest American Hero reboot continues to move forward, this time adding actors George Wendt, Gia Sandhu, and Zenobia Shroff to co-star alongside New Girl‘s Hannah Simone as the titular hero in the new ABC sitcom.

Christine Gernon will direct the Greatest American Hero pilot, which was developed by Rachna Fruchbom and Nahnatchka Khan from Fresh Off the Boat. The story will focus on Meera (Simone), a “30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning.” Meera begins to discover a new purpose when she’s gifted with a super suit in order to protect the planet. This updated version adds a new spin compared to the 1980s series, making the lead an Indian-American woman, as opposed to a male lead as originally played by William Katt.

Wendt, most famous for his role as Norm on Cheers, will play Meera’s boss, Bob Rice; Shroff, fresh off a supporting turn in the Oscar-nominated The Big Sick, will play Meera’s mother; and Sandhu, still a relative newcomer, can be seen in The Girlfriend Experience and the upcoming A Simple Favor starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.

It’s too early to say if the pilot will be picked up to series, but stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more Greatest American Hero updates as we learn them!
