Yondu’s Personal Tastes In Music Will Affect The ‘Guardians 3’ Soundtrack

Guardians Galaxy Yondu
Since planning for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is already underway, director James Gunn is currently picking out what songs are going to appear in the sequel.

In his recent Facebook Q&A about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Gunn revealed that there’s more to deciding what songs get used than to pick some favorites from the 1960s and 1970s. The soundtrack for the third movie has to do with his adoptive father, Yondu Udonta, and the songs he thinks resonate with Peter Quill the most:

Volume 1 and Volume 2 have been Meredith’s song choices, her communication to Peter. In Volume 3, the song choices will be Yondu communicating to Peter.”

It’s really interesting to know that the songs that Gunn picked for the previous film were determined by Star-Lord’s his mother Meredith Quill as a way of reaching him, and that Yondu unknowningly carried on this tradition. The last time we heard from Gunn regarding the movie’s soundtrack, he stated that his list encompassed 181 songs – fitting enough, considering that the Zune Star-Lord receives at the end of the film has some 500 songs on it, odds are that at least some of the ones he wasn’t able to include might be seen on the interface of the music player.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available on home video. The film stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Kurt Russell as Ego. Many of these same characters are set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, its sequel, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

10 Cosmic Heroes We Want To See In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

Guardians

It’s official: James Gunn has confirmed that that he will be returning to both write and direct the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is just phenomenal news. Gunn has created something really special with these films. He took third-tier (at best) comic book characters that most fans didn’t yet know they needed to love and turned their story into not one, but two blockbuster movies that are major hits, both critically and commercially.

In his Facebook post, Gunn stated that Guardians Vol. 3 will “conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.” He also made a brief mention of “some of the other forthcoming heroes” that could be appearing in the series. With these things in mind, we thought it would be a wonderful idea to explore some of the cosmic Marvel characters that fans might like to see in the third installment.

Before we jump in, a couple caveats. While it would surely be a lot of fun to see some of the Earthbound MCU characters mixing it up with the team in space, this list is only going to feature cosmic-based Marvel characters. The film will hit theaters after the Guardians’ introduction to Tony and Cap and the gang in Avengers: Infinity War, so we may still see that happen anyway. Also, I’m sure there are plenty of fantastic cosmic villains that would be great fits to antagonize the team in the third film, but we’re only focusing on the good guys in this list. Also, as amazing as it would be to see Silver Surfer or Galactus in the MCU, we’re not including anyone that Marvel doesn’t currently own the rights to, so don’t expect to see Agent Venom or Kitty Pryde or any of the other non-MCU characters that have served on the team in the comics on this list either. Also, it should be noted that I have not yet seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so if any of these characters do appear, my apologies for the wasted entry.

Now, without further adieu, here are the 10 cosmic Marvel heroes we want to see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Hit the next button below to begin!
