James Gunn has revealed that the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is going to tell one whole story.
Gunn recently announced he would be returning once again to both write and direct Marvel’s third outing featuring the galaxies unlikeliest heroes and he has a clear idea of where the story is headed.
At the red carpet world premiere for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 last night in Los Angeles, Gunn explained to Entertainment Weekly that the three films will work together to tell one long story:
“I think really that the three movies work together as a whole, they’re going to tell one story. This is the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and we’re going to get to know the characters even better in the same way we got to know them much better in this film than the first one.”
When the third film will come to fruition is unknown at this point but it will take place following the Guardians involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War which hits theaters next year. Given Gunn’s statement that the trilogy will tell one whole story, do you think

10 Reasons To Be Pumped For ‘Captain Marvel’
It’s a good time to be Captain Marvel.
She is one of Marvel’s hottest characters right now, with her own title, as well as features in various Avengers titles. She was even just the lead character in Marvel’s Civil War 2 event, meaning it’s about time she got her own movie. With Brie Larson set to play the heroine in a new Marvel Studios’ film and the search for a woman director ongoing, now news has hit that Captain Marvel will start shooting in January.
While there are still a lot of things up in the air about the movie, a director hasn’t even been announced yet, things are shaping up well. Nicole Perlman, who penned Guardians of the Galaxy, was tapped to write the screenplay for Captain Marvel, so I’m expecting great things.
