‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Director James Gunn On Nathan Fillion’s Cut Cameo

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Nathan FillionJames Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may include cameos from actors such as Sylvester Stallone, but one person who we definitely won’t be seeing in the movie is Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion.

On Thursday, Fillion revealed in an Instagram post a cameo that didn’t make into the final cut of the film. The photo itself featured Fillion dressed as someone looking an awful lot like Arkon, a character best known from the Marvel comic book series Weirdworld.

But for the last year, Fillion was said to be playing Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. After being asked on Twitter, Gunn confirmed that this rumor is indeed true, but he also clarified that Fillion’s face would have only been shown on a set of posters in a scene that ended up being cut from the movie.

As for the photo Fillion shared, Gunn said that Fillion was simply “clowning around on set,” playing Arkon while he was in costume as Williams. You can check out his tweets below.

Interestingly enough, Gunn was also asked if this means that Fillion is still Wonder Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite the fact that his scene was cut, but his answer seemed to hint that we could actually see the character in the future.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Fillion as Wonder Man in a future Marvel movie? Be sure to sound-off your thoughts in the comment section below.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5th.
