Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy represented a great many positive things: friendship, selflessness, sacrifice, morality, strength. But none of those attributes hold a candle to the No. 1 lesson Baby Groot taught us: dancing is awesome.
Nary a soul in any theater across the world didn’t feel the need to break it down once they saw Baby Groot tearing up the dance floor, err, plant pot at the end of the film. Fortunately for fans who are looking forward to the sequel, there is plenty more where that came from.
Star Vin Diesel recently engaged in a live video chat with fans on Facebook where he revealed to having just received the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Not only did he bestow effusive praise on the screenplay and its writer/director James Gunn, but he also admitted that fans who want to get their groove on won’t be disappointed.
Diesel discussed some of the other projects he has going on right now while playing part of Meghan Trainor’s song “Better When I’m Dancing,” before agreeing to the sentiment and adding:
Could Groot and Star-Lord challenge one another to an epic dance battle? A fanboy can dream…
Diesel also had nothing but good things to say about the follow-up and its creative helmer Gunn.
It’s not as if Diesel is going to bash his own movie. But he certainly went out of his way to say nice things about it and you usually don’t do that unless you actually, you know, believe them. Towards the end of the video, Diesel said:
This all bodes well for the quality of the sequel and for the fun tone that made the first film so enjoyable.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for a May 5, 2017 release.
