The upcoming 2018 Han Solo Anthology will serve as Lawrence Kasdan’s fourth and final entry in the Star Wars franchise.
In an interview with German tabloid Bild, via The Hollywood Reporter, the 66-year-old Kasdan said he had little interest in being involved with the franchise again, but decided to do it because of his family’s enthusiasm, convincing him to co-write with his son, Jon Kasdan.
Kasdan co-wrote 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi. His involvement with the future of the Star Wars franchise was announced in 2013, initially signing on to write and produce one of the franchise’s spin-off films. To fan’s excitement, he was later brought in by J.J. Abrams to write for The Force Awakens, replacing Michael Arndt in October 2013.
