Don’t Expect To See Harrison Ford In The Han Solo Spin-Off Film

Many fans were taken by surprise when Disney and Lucasfilm announced the Han Solo Anthology film, which is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. While it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing the part, it was recently revealed that over 2.500 actors are currently auditioning in order to land the iconic role in the Star Wars prequel film.

While doing the press rounds for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ford was asked by Reuters about who he’d like to see playing the smuggler, but according to him that’s something he doesn’t have to worry about because he’s not involved at all in the movie. Here’s what he had to say:

I don’t think it’s about being like me, it’s about us being like Han Solo. So I’m sure whoever is responsible for that film, and I’m not, will think through the issues and problems of doing such a thing … Let’s make them responsible for those questions you might think to ask me because I’m not involved.

With the studio looking for a young man in his early to mid-twenties, it makes sense that Ford wouldn’t reprise his role in the spin-off film. When asked if he’s going to give a few tips to the talented actor that lands the role, Ford said: “No, I’m not going to do that.” As of right now, it hasn’t even been confirmed whether or not Ford will return as Han Solo after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens in less than one week.
