Harrison Ford Praises New Cast of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Jimmy Kimmel, you know, of Jimmy Kimmel Live, has always embraced his inner nerd. Last night he did so in spectacular fashion. Not only did he dress as Princess Lei (you read that right) for Halloween, he also hosted none other than Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, on the show.

Unfortunately for those Star Wars fans that are itching to the bone for any and all additional information they can get on The Force Awakens, Ford was a locked down vault.

I can tell you this: it’s really, really good. The new cast — Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac — are phenomenal. J.J. has made an incredibly movie. You will not be disappointed at all, I promise you.

Now it’s obvious that Ford wouldn’t bash his own movie right before it’s about to come out. But this effusive praise was also, relatively, unsolicited. He didn’t have to go out of his way to compliment several aspects of the film, but he did. That should  bode well for Star Wars fans desperately aching for a good movie this time around.

Plus, Disney and Lucasfilm have made it pretty clear that this new trilogy is focused more on the new generation of characters (as it should be) as opposed to the Original Trilogy icons. This makes Ford’s comments even more important given the weight that has been thrust onto these young actors’ shoulders. Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren will carry this new franchise, for better and for worse, into the future. Luke, Han, Leia and the gang will be supporting players only.

Also, in case you wanted extra incentive to watch this interview, Ford is dressed up as a hot dog. You may do with that what you will.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will (finally) hit theaters on Dec. 18.
