‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Star Henry Cavill Talks Epic Prologue Scene

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill recently opened up about the prologue scene of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

We’ve known for a while that next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice would closely connect to 2013’s Man of Steel. That notion was further confirmed in the film’s two teaser trailers which feature Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne in Metropolis during Superman’s destructive battle with General Zod. In fact, it is Bruce’s eye witness account of all the collateral damage caused by that fight that inspires him to take down the Kryptonian.

What we didn’t know is that the Metropolis sequence shown in the trailers will actually serve as an extended “prologue” to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which reportedly takes place 18 months after the events in Man of Steel. Star Henry Cavill revealed this little tidbit in a recent interview, saying:

“What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Not only will Dawn Of Justice be the first ever Hollywood blockbuster to feature both the Caped Crusader and the Last Son of Krypton, it will also be the first time movie fans unfamiliar with the comics see two of the most well-known superheroes in the world go toe-to-toe. Ben Affleck expanded on why Batman feels the need to quarrel with Supes.

“He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

Man Of Steel may have its detractors, but Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will at least give movie-goers something they’ve never seen before. Whether or not it will actually work remains to be seen.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is due out on March 25, 2016.
