With their latest Honest Trailer, the Screen Junkies take on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and completely bash it. While I found some similar flaws with the film, the trailer takes them to new heights, calling it an “unnecessary” story.
The trailer harps on the re-shoots, cut scenes, but primarily the one-note characters. Without compelling leads, it seems the folks over at Screen Junkies just weren’t interested. While they do note the film is visually beautiful and the easter eggs were fun, overall they were unimpressed. And as most fans have pointed out, CGI Tarkin and Leia were a bit much. Perhaps films need to wait another decade before completely CGI’ing humans.
Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen is now the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, a vengeful Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is out now on Blu-Ray.
