How To Train Your Dragon

DreamWorks Animation has revealed the official title for the third chapter in the How to Train Your Dragon series.

Being billed as the final entry in the franchise, DreamWorks has announced that the film’s title is How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The animated pic features the voice talents of Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler and Craig Ferguson.

Here’s the official synopsis for How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.

The title was announced ahead of a sneak peak at the animated sequel airing at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The Hidden World is one of the DreamWorks Animation titles being promoted at the event, with the film’s presentation taking place on June 14.

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures released the original in 2010 to surprising universal acclaim. The film grossed $495.8 million at the worldwide box office and was nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score at the 83rd Academy Awards.

A sequel to How to Train Your Dragon made its debut in 2014. The film earned $621.5 million worldwide and was also critically acclaimed, landing a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards.

Directed by Dean DeBlois, The Hidden World is the first DreamWorks Animation film being distributed by Universal Pictures, following Comcast’s purchase of the studio. America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T. J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, Djimon Hounsou and F. Murray Abraham round out the cast.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World opens on March 1, 2019.
