Rob Liefeld’s ‘Prophet’ Could Be Heading To The Big Screen

The Tracking Board is reporting that 20th Century Fox is currently looking at Rob Liefeld’s Prophet to possibly adapt for the big screen. The title focuses on the character John Propher, who originally appeared in Liefeld’s Image series Youngblood, a troubled super-soldier that gained his powers via a time-traveler. The character had two series in the 90’s and was relaunched in 2012 by Brandon Graham and Simon Roy. The project is currently being pitched as “a mix between The Martian, Mad Max & Avatar”.

The site adds that Liefeld is not commited to Fox currently and is shopping around a screenplay. There’s been numerous Image titles that have been “in development” as films but the only two to currently hit theaters in the form of 1996’s Spawn & 2008’s Wanted. While I can’t say that I was an avid reader of the original series, the take has  me interesting in seeing this one if it does indeed happen. Let us know your thoughts on this news in the comments section.
